Education

My name is Peter Wasiewicz (ANSI) or Piotr W±siewicz (ISO-8859-2). I am an assistant professor from the Group of Artificial Intelligence Research at the Institute of Electronic Systems, Warsaw University of Technology, Warsaw, Poland. My scientific supervisor was Prof. Jan Mulawka. I have defended my PhD Thesis on February 8, 2000. The Counsil of the Faculty of Electronics and Information Technology, Warsaw University of Technology, decided on February 22, 2000 to confer me the Philosophiae Doctor degree in the field of technical sciences, discipline - Computer Science. Earlier I have graduated from the Institute of Control and Computation Engineering at the Warsaw University of Technology. I have done my master project in the field of Genetic Algorithms in Global Optimization.

My research interests focus on the field of new computation techniques derived from biology e.g. DNA computing, artificial life, genetic programming, intelligent agents, and all kinds of Linux programming, and even robotics with virtual reality. I have done my PhD research in the field of molecular computing. My Phd thesis title is "New DNA Computing Algorithms". "After pioneering works of Adleman molecular computing has emerged as a new field of research. This area possesses an inherit interest to researchers in computer science and molecular biology. A central idea behind much of molecular computing is its promise of simple implementation of associative memory and massive parallelism. In a challenge of molecular computing for new generation of computers is addressed. It is suggested that under some circumstances computers based on molecular interactions may be a viable alternative to traditional computers based on electronics" - my PhD Thesis.

I am also designing simple and sophisticated algorithms for intelligent spiders in www network (hypertext) and for robots in simulation. These web and normal robots have to write their observations in databases. There was a lot of work on efficient and quick databases, optimization of queries in the world, but with these new techniques derived from biology I could do something unique and new.

I was also a supervisor of Krzysztof Krawczyk master project on WWW agents in the net enviroment. I was also a supervisor of Katarzyna Pietak's master project on virus genetic algorithms inspired by DNA computing.

I have received prizes from the Polish Science Foundation and from the Foundation Supramolecular Chemistry Network. I am going to become an associate professor...

By the way I have made our research group's logo and put on my research group home page.
